Some details on January - February

January 8th at 9 am St. Marks Gym- Pinewood Derby Build Day- we make our pinewood derby cars from start to almost complete finish.  There will be an assembly line with stations for each process that the car needs.  You can pick up your car the day of the build. If you cannot attend, you can pick it up at your next den meeting.  Dads, Granddads, Moms and Grandmas if you have a scroll saw, band saw, table top belt sander, drill press, dremel tool or any other needed wood tool please feel free to bring it that morning.
(No skill saws, table saws, or miter saws)  We also need a paint station so please bring assorted colors if you want to paint your car there.  Painting usually takes place at home where you can give it that special touch.  Troop 416 will be there to assist with building.

January 15th weekend: Webelos II will be going on a campout with Troop 416. This is their final requirement to meet as Webelos II and will NEED to attend this in order to cross over into boy scouts with Arrow of Light.

January 25th at 7 pm DISCO THEME PACK MEETING-  Our theme for this pack meeting is good ole grooving to the disco beat.  So dress like your favorite disco super star and get ready for some groovy fun.  Kids and adults will be able to dress out for this one.  There will be tons of dancing and just silly fun.

January 29th PINEWOOD DERBY

Calling adult volunteers!  Track setup will start at 9 am Saturday morning in the St. Marks Gym.  We need some new blood to help this year so that each year we spread our knowledge of track setup and takedown and how to run it.

-11ish to 1pm will be test runs for your cars so if you want to test your car, this will be your chance.

1 pm- track closes. NO FURTHER TESTING WILL BE ALLOWED!

3 pm-registration will begin at the front door of the gym

4 pm- races begin!  Please have any family there at the beginning of the race because we will go straight through the ranks beginning with tiger, wolf, bear, webelos I and webelos II, siblings, and adults.

Closing ceremony will follow when finished and trophies awarded for awesome
auto and race winners.

Things you should know about the pinewood derby:

1.  scouts, siblings, AND adults will follow bsa guidelines of the pinewood derby.
http://www.bsa-jackson.org/contact/documents/2011PinewoodDerbyRulesRegs.pdf
2.  final dues MUST be paid in order to race in the event. There will be a list at the door if you do not know.
3.  Scouts must wear their Class A uniforms in order to participate.
4.  NO BAD ATTITUDES OR POOR SPORTSMANSHIP!

February 6- Scout Sunday

Saint Marks will recognize Scout Sunday on Feb 6th. Pack 576 will participate in the 10:45 worship service, along with Boy Scout Troop 416 and the Girl Scouts. Boys will wear their Class A uniforms to the Sunday
Service.

February Pack meeting is Blue and Gold February 26th.

Theme is Medieval times.  Kids dress as knights or characters from that era.

This is where the kids earn their  badges ie. tiger, wolf, bear, etc. so den leaders be prepared to have your boys caught up and badges earned.

Webelos II will move up to boy scouts so this is their main event and they will be hosting and deciding further plans.

More to come later...
